Steps to Ordering and Installing a Fiberglass Pool

The entire process of ordering and installing a fiberglass pool typically takes 8-10 weeks, depending on the size and complexity of the pool and the site conditions. It is important to work with a reputable pool installation company to ensure that the process goes smoothly and that you are satisfied with the final result. Parrot Bay installs over 100 fiberglass pools per year with thousands of families enjoying their pools over the years.

The process for ordering and installing a fiberglass pool typically involves the following steps:

1. Pool Consultation

One of our fantastic pool consultants will work with you either at our Pool Design Center in Benson, on a virtual Zoom call, or at your house to find the perfect fiberglass pool for you. It is a great idea to visit our design center to see the pools in person and select any extras such as tiles or water features in person.

2. Pool Selection

You will select the size, shape, style, and pool color of the fiberglass pool that best fits your needs and budget. If the pool is in stock you can secure it with a deposit to make it yours! We can often even start the pool installation process in as little as 30 days on our in-stock fiberglass pools!

If it is not in stock and needs to be ordered, then you will place a deposit for an order and we will place you on the build schedule as soon as it is delivered.

We will not order your fiberglass pool until your permit is approved in case the permit is denied.

3. Site Assessment

Since installing a fiberglass pool requires the property to be excavated, our pool builders will need to survey the property before the process begins. A professional will assess your property to determine the best location for the pool, taking into account factors such as access, drainage, and the presence of underground utilities.

4. Pool Permitting

Installing a fiberglass pool, or any type of inground pool, requires various levels of permitting. Not every pool installation company takes care of pool permitting for their customers – but we do! We’ll need to obtain any necessary permits from your local government before construction can begin.

5. Excavation

The pool installation team will excavate the area where the pool will be installed, making sure that the area is level and compacted.

6. Fiberglass Pool Delivery

The fiberglass pool will be delivered to your property on a large flatbed truck.

7. Fiberglass Pool Installation

Now for the fun part! Since your pool will arrive as a one-piece shell, installing a fiberglass pool at this point is a matter of lifting and placing! Our pool builders will use a crane or other equipment to carefully lower the fiberglass pool into the excavated area. They will then connect the pool’s plumbing and electrical systems, and install any necessary equipment such as pumps and filters.

8. Backfilling

Once the pool is installed and secured, the area around the pool will be backfilled with gravel.

9. Pool Filling

The pool will be filled with water and the pool equipment will be tested to ensure that everything is functioning properly. It might be tempting, but it’s still not time to go for a dip. Installing a fiberglass pool requires multiple checkpoints to ensure that the inground pool is up to code.

10. Inspections

Multiple inspections will be conducted by the county and are county dependent. This waiting sometimes takes longer than the actual pool installation.

11. Pool Decking

Once inspections have passed you can contract your decking to be installed. Think about what type of pool decking will go with your new pool tiles, water features, and pool color. Once you’ve decided on that, it’s time to buy patio furniture and pool toys!

12. Sit Back & Soak Up the Sun

Once your decking and pool are installed, all that’s left to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy your new backyard oasis! Of course, you’ll need to maintain your fiberglass pool by regularly checking the chemical levels, cleaning the pool, and performing any necessary repairs. But from this point on, every day is a kickback and relax type of day.
