Our Fiberglass Pool Installation Processs
If you're considering installing an inground fiberglass pool in your backyard, it's important to understand the timeline for the project. Fiberglass pool installation typically takes the least amount of time to install if you shop our in-stock fiberglass pool collection. If you choose to design your own custom swimming pool, these estimates will take longer.
Here's a breakdown of the typical timeline for installing a fiberglass pool:
The first step in the fiberglass pool installation process is design and planning. This stage involves meeting with our swimming pool contractors. You'll work with the contractor to determine the size, shape, and features of your pool. This stage can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks, depending on the complexity of the design and how quickly you can make decisions.
Once the design is finalized, and the pool builder selected, the swimming pool contractor will obtain the necessary permits from your local building department. The permitting process can take a week or two in some counties up to 3 months in parts of Wake County if you have a septic tank. We build in some counties where we can have a permit in as little as two days! The timeframe is varied greatly by county and township. Once the permits are in place, the contractor will excavate the area where the pool will be installed. This stage typically takes a day.
Unlike other types of pools, fiberglass pools are manufactured and shipped in one piece. This means that the installation process is typically easier and much faster than other types of inground swimming pools, as the bulk of the work is done during site preparation.
After the pool is installed, the contractor will backfill the area around the pool with gravel or sand. This provides support for the pool and helps to prevent shifting over time. The swimming pool contractor will also install the pool's plumbing and electrical systems during this stage. This typically takes 1-2 weeks.
After the pool and plumbing are installed, a concrete contractor will begin work on the pool deck. With Parrot Bay Pools, you have options of choosing your own concrete contractor or we offer stone hardscaping and travertine in house. This stage typically takes 2-4 weeks. You will also need to hire a landscaper to finish your grading and add your landscaping, grass, and fencing.
