Fiberglass Pool Construction FAQs

Who do I contact if I have any questions/comments/concerns?

Parrot Bay has a construction email for all of your questions, comments and concerns both during and after your pool is built. Our concierge will make sure all questions do get answered in a timely manner, typically within 48 hours. Please email construction@parrotbaypoolsnc.com.

How long does it take to build a pool?

We can install a fiberglass pool in as little as 2 weeks!

Most of our concrete pools in Raleigh take 6 to 8 weeks from the day we start digging. The timeframe varies greatly depending on several variables, including the size of the pool, the landscape, the time of year, weather, and other contractors’ schedules. The larger the project, the longer it takes, with some pools taking several months to construct.

Solstice-(2)What about permits? What do they cost and how long does it take to get approved?

Parrot Bay Pools takes care of the permit process for you! If you contracted us to do the work, we pay the fees and we make sure you have the permits you need. Depending on where you live, the process takes 1-6 weeks.

An important note for our DIY friends: we can’t get permits for work not completed by our crew. If you plan to do any of the work yourself – or if you need a fence permit for a fence we did not build – those permits and fees are your responsibility.

What should I do if I need extra concrete or dirt?

It’s easy! Let us know by emailing construction@parrotbaypoolsnc.com. Additional fees apply.

Is it okay that all the dirt settles after it rains?

Yes. The dirt will not harm your pool or equipment. The rain is helpful because it lets the dirt compact and become solid for further construction.

Who is responsible to put up and take down my fence?

Parrot Bay Pools will take your fence down the day before we start to dig, and we will put your fence back up once the project is complete. We will make sure your fencing complies with safety codes in your area and that all of the required permits are taken care of.

An important note for our DIY friends: If you want to handle fencing yourself, please take it down the day before we start to dig the pool. Unfortunately, we are unable to continue the job if the fence is in the way. Once the pool is complete, it is your responsibility to replace the fence according to the safety codes where you live, and to obtain the proper permits.

Zenith (11)Who will fill my pool with water?

We’re proud to work with All American Water Hauling to fill your pool. They will bring a truck full of water to your house to fill your pool in just a few hours. The cost of this service is included in the pool purchase price.

Pro Tip: If you ever want to use a hose to fill your pool, call your water company to let them know. They may discount the sewage portion of the water.

How much will a new pool add to my electricity bill?

Depending on the size of the pool, expect your bill to increase approximately $300 to $800 per year.

Do I need to maintain my pool in the winter?

Yes. Water balance and cleaning is a year-round task. Ask one of our Parrot Bay Pools staff for specific details about maintaining your pool water.

How will I know how to operate my pool equipment?

Once pool construction is complete, a Parrot Bay Pools team member will show you how to use your equipment. We’ll also give you a folder of “how to” information for pool equipment and water maintenance.
